Al Taylor is our lead consultant.
Al worked for five years for international law firm Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP, in the firm's City of London office. He left Mayer Brown in 2005, and worked for two years in Manches LLP in Oxford.
During his time at Mayer Brown and Manches, Al specialised in media law, intellectual property law, and the law relating to IT and the internet.
He has advised a diversity of clients, ranging from international financial institutions to universities, from literary estates to biotech corporations, and from technology start-ups to publishing houses. He has extensive experience of both contentious and non-contentious work.
Al holds degrees from the University of Essex (LLB English and European Laws), the University of London (BA Philosophy), and the University of Nottingham (MA International Relations). He also spent a year studying European law at undergraduate level at the Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen in the Netherlands. He holds postgraduate qualifications in law from Nottingham Law School (Legal Practice Course) and the University of Bristol (Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice).
Al's articles and legal commentary have been published in a range of journals, including in Mondaq, Copyright World, Advertising, Marketing and Branding Law Journal, Learned Publishing, Entertainment Law Review, In Business Magazine, ITMA Information, World eBusiness Law Report, Media World and World Online Gambling Law Report.
Although Al trained as a solicitor, he handed in his practising certificate in 2007 in order to start SEQ Legal LLP.
Al is currently preparing to tutor a course in digital publishing law at the Publishing Training Centre.
